® positive bolus needle-free valve offers a complete system to allow you to standardize on one integrated needle-free system throughout your facility.
The SmartSite
® positive bolus needle-free valve was announced as one of the winners of the 2003 Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA) in the General Hospital Devices and Therapeutic Products category.
Upon removal of a standard male luer, the SmartSite
® positive bolus valve automatically displaces a positive bolus of fluid for catheter maintenance.
Positive bolus products offer:
- Catheter maintenance; upon removal of a standard male luer, the SmartSite® positive bolus valve automatically displaces a positive bolus of fluid, helping to prevent retrograde flow into the catheter lumen
- Cost savings; eliminating the need for caps, cannulas and add-on pieces also eliminates the cost
- Standardization; IV pump sets, gravity sets, extension sets, drug dispensing devices and positive bolus products combine with the SmartSite® needle-free system for hospital-wide standardization
- Ease of use; simply swab the top of the valve, attach any standard male luer and detach
- Latex free; removing latex from your IV system reduces the likelihood of an adverse latex reaction for patients and caregivers
- No caps or cannulas; the confusion, waste and nuisance of needle-free caps and cannulas are eliminated
