Red Flags: Prescription drug anti-abuse video
This "Red Flags" educational video helps pharmacists identify the warning signs of prescription drug abuse and diversion, so they can help ensure the prescriptions they dispense were written for a legitimate medical purpose, and to empower them to act upon any unusual behavior they observe.
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and various state pharmacy boards describe "red flags" as circumstances that should raise reasonable suspicion about the validity of a controlled substance prescription. The video highlights a number of these potential warning signs, some which are not easy to spot, by featuring personal narratives with interactions between pharmacists and customers.
This video was created in conjunction with the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP). Cardinal Health is proud to sponsor the creation of this video, along with five other members of The Anti-Diversion Industry Working Group, which includes Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, McKesson Corporation, AmerisourceBergen, Actavis and Endo-Qualitest Pharmaceuticals.
