Leadership Development - EMERGE

EMERGE is Cardinal Health’s entry-level rotational program designed to offer leadership development to participants in an environment where they can rotate through different departments and locations. Participants are provided an ideal opportunity to continue exploring careers within their discipline while gaining valuable work experience needed to succeed in the future. The program is geared towards recent college graduates interested in the healthcare industry that are searching for a challenging, rewarding career in a fast-paced, consumer-oriented environment. The goal of the program is to provide participants the tools and experiences to accelerate their career path at Cardinal Health. Participants in the program are full-time benefit eligible employees.

EMERGE is a very competitive and selective program, and we recruit for participants during the fall season for the program that begins in June of the subsequent year.  Participants will experience a high degree of responsibility and accountability within the Analytics function. They are expected to bring value to the function, enhance and improve their rotation, and achieve management business objectives. In addition to engaging in rotations that offer broad professional experiences, participants will also build leadership skills through workshops and technical training. The goal of the program is to provide participants with the skills and background needed to become a future leader within the Analytics function.

Participants will complete three 12-month rotations. Rotations will be determined based on business needs. Relocation is required for participants in the program.

This program is designed for recent graduates who are interested in joining a three-year rotational program and meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in any analytical, data science or quantitative degree or a related field
  • Recommended GPA of 3.0 or above on 4.0 scale
  • Relevant coursework and/or projects
  • Previous internship experience recommended
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Established record of achievement and leadership
  • Process and results orientation
  • Extensive community service and/or extracurricular activities
  • Available to relocate throughout the course of the program
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; Cardinal Health will not sponsor students for work visas or other employment authorization

Participants are expected to perform at a level signifying their commitment to the achievement of their professional goals as well as the success of the program and the company. They are expected to bring value to the department, enhance and improve the rotation and achieve management business objectives as defined by the rotation manager and the program management team. This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and background needed to become a future leader within the organization.

Participants will complete three 12-month rotations. Rotations will be determined based on business needs. Relocation is required for participants in the program.

This program is designed for recent graduates who are interested in joining a three-year rotational program and meet the following qualifications:

Healthcare providers are always seeking ways to make patient care safer and reduce recovery times following medical procedures. Many rely on Cardinal Health to provide a wide variety of high quality, cost-effective medical products. Participants will gain extensive hands-on experience in the development of medical products that are improving the quality of patient care. Cardinal Health engineers improve processes, implement design enhancements to our medical devices and develop emerging medical products. These experiences and access to Cardinal Health resources help new graduates become well-rounded, results-driven leaders who are ready to make an impact on healthcare.

The program will provide new engineers with an opportunity to experience diverse project assignments over a period of three years. Participants will gain exposure to different areas within engineering and experience the various stages of product development and launch. The engineer will work with his/her manager to ensure that project assignments are varied over the course of the program to gain a broad range of experiences.

Participants will complete three 12-month rotations. Rotations will be determined based on business need. Currently, most rotational assignments are located in Waukegan, Illinois; however, this may expand to additional locations based on business needs.

During the three-year program, participants will:

  • Design medical/surgical products in one of our manufacturing businesses by partnering with other product development engineers, regulatory affairs, marketing, quality/assurance, outside suppliers and surgeons.
  • Improve processes and implement design enhancements by working closely with other research and development engineers.
  • Investigate new medical technologies to build technology assessment and research skills.

This program is designed for recent graduates who are interested in joining a three-year professional development program and meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Materials or Chemical Engineering
  • Recommended GPA of 3.0 or above on 4.0 scale
  • Relevant coursework and/or projects
  • Previous internship experience recommended
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Established record of achievement and leadership
  • Process and results orientation
  • Extensive community service and/or extracurricular activities
  • Willing to relocate throughout the course of the program

You will receive robust training while gaining human resources experience through specific knowledge area and HR Business Partner rotations. While in the program, you will receive diverse assignments, cross-functional training and exposure to various HR competencies. Participants are expected to bring value to the department, enhance and improve the rotation and achieve management business objectives. The goal of the program is to provide the knowledge and resources to accelerate your career path and help you become a future human resources leader within the organization.

Participants will complete a three-year program, consisting of 12-month rotations. Rotations will be determined based on business needs.

This program is designed for high-performing entry-level employees who are interested in joining a three-year rotational program. Currently, this program is only available to Cardinal Health internal employees.

The program will provide participants with a combination of business, technology and leadership skills. Participants will have exposure to various areas of the business and will participate in cross-functional training. The program will expose participants to a wide variety of rotational work opportunities offering broad professional experiences. Participants will work in at least two different business segments in order to achieve the targeted level of enhanced knowledge about the company. They are expected to bring value to the department, enhance and improve the rotation, and achieve management business objectives. The program is designed to provide participants with the skills and background needed to become a future information technology leader within the organization.

Participants will complete a combination of 6-month and 12-month rotations. Rotations will be determined based on business needs. Currently, all rotations are located in Dublin, Ohio; however this may expand to additional locations in the future.

This program is designed for recent graduates who are interested in joining a three-year rotational program. Currently, this program is only available to Cardinal Health Internship Program participants and internal employees

You will be exposed to the pharmaceutical and medical business segments, gaining experience in marketing research, needs assessment and analysis, planning and execution of marketing strategy and customer interactions. In addition to building leadership skills through workshops, and technical training and you will participate in rotations offering broad professional experiences. The goal of the program is to provide the knowledge and resources to accelerate your career path and help you become a future marketing leader within the organization.

Participants will complete a three-year program, consisting of 6-month and 12-month rotations. Rotations will be determined based on business needs.

This program is designed for recent graduates who are interested in joining a three-year rotational program. Currently, this program is only available to Cardinal Health Internship Program participants and internal employees.

The goal of the program is to provide participants with an accelerated career path to become a future leader within the organization. Structured rotations, mentoring, networking, training and stretch assignments will be used to develop participant business, sales and leadership abilities. Participants will immerse themselves in all facets of the Medical business before assuming a full-time customer-facing sales role in a hospital setting. As participants are gaining valuable business experience, they will also be developed as leaders through formal training and informal mentoring. Participants will complete two 6-month rotations: One in a corporate setting, the other in a major metro field location. Next, participants will complete a 24-month rotation in a field sales assignment.

During the three-year program participants will:

  • Learn the business by working in a wide range of Medical segment functional areas and shadowing experienced sales representatives
  • Build capabilities through formal leadership and sales training, along with mentoring and networking with senior leaders.
  • Become effective sales people and be prepared for a next role within Cardinal Health

Participants have the opportunity to develop strong supply chain knowledge and build relationships through exposure to challenging assignments and diverse experiences. Participants will gain valuable experience in a distribution environment that manages the most automated, efficient and low cost network in the industry. The program is designed to give participants knowledge of both the pharmaceutical and medical sides of the business. The goal of the program is to provide participants with an accelerated career path to potentially become a future supply chain leader within the organization.

During the three-year program participants will:

  • Learn the business through experiencing the different areas of a distribution center.
  • Improve and apply operational excellence through lean six sigma methodologies.
  • Demonstrate leadership capabilities through a supervisory experience within a distribution center.

Meet Charity

Through the EMERGE program, I have had the opportunity to learn outside of the scope of my specific role. I meet and speak with people from all over the company, and the knowledge I’ve gained is invaluable. It really helps to see the big picture and how my role fits into it.
