Laboratory Professional of the Year Award Program

Laboratory professionals work behind the scenes, away from the patients they serve. For more than 60 years, Cardinal Health has served the clinical diagnostics industry. We know how important clinical laboratory professionals are to patient care. The Cardinal Health™ urEssential Laboratory Professional of the Year Award Program shines a spotlight on these professionals and the important work they do.

Cardinal Health seeks to recognize clinical laboratory professionals who have improved their laboratories, enhanced patient care through their work, and increased awareness of the importance of the profession.

The urEssential Award is presented annually. 2017 is the fourth year for the award.

The nomination process is open and you may nominate a colleague, peer, friend, or yourself by completing and submitting the nomination form. Nominations are accepted on an ongoing basis and must be submitted electronically using the online form.

For the 2017 award, the official nomination period ends on February 28, 2017. Nominations received after this date will be considered for the 2018 award.

Industry professionals appointed by Cardinal Health serve on the judging panel. Judges evaluate the nominations and rate candidates according to the criteria as set forth above. Cardinal Health then compiles candidate ratings from all judges. The award winner is the person with the highest cumulative rating from amongst the field of qualified candidates. Candidates with high cumulative ratings are named as finalists.

A representative of Cardinal Health will initially contact the award winner and finalists via email. Cardinal Health presents the award recipient with a crystal award. Cardinal Health also contributes $25,000 to the scholastic program chosen by the winner to develop future clinical laboratory professionals.
