To use, carefully follow instructions inside package.

Clean wound area. Dry surrounding skin thoroughly.

Grasp and peel away plastic liner and apply dressing to wound. Do not stretch or cut product.

Center dressing over wound area and press in place. Secondary dressing or additional fixation is not necessary.

May be used for:

  • Minor surgical wounds
  • Cuts and scrapes
  • 1st and 2nd degree burns
  • Diabetic, venous and arterial ulcers
  • Early stage bedsores (stage I and II pressure ulcers)
  • Lacerations and abrasions

Usage

Product Description:
Cardinal Health™ Silicone Bordered Foam dressings are sterile, foam dressings made with a highly absorbent foam pad, protective film backing, gentle silicone adhesive and secure border. The dressings are used to protect and absorb exudate from the wound, which facilitates a moist environment and may promote healing.

Indications:
May be used for the management of moderate to heavy exuding, partial to full thickness wounds, including:

  •  Early stage bedsores (stage I and II pressure ulcers)
  • Traumatic wounds (e.g. skin tears, road rash and minor injuries)
  • Diabetic, venous and arterial ulcers
  • Graft and donor sites
  • Minor surgical wounds
  • Lacerations and abrasions

Contraindications:
Third-degree burns and lesions with active vasculitis

Directions for Use:

  1. Wash hands thoroughly and put on clean disposable gloves such as Cardinal Health™ Exam Gloves.
  2. Clean wound area with appropriate wound cleanser such as Cardinal Health™ Wound Cleanser. Dry surrounding skin thoroughly. Skin barrier products are not necessary.
  3. Remove dressing from packaging. For dressings smaller than 5x5 inches, there should be a 3/4-inch overlap onto the dry skin surrounding the wound. For dressings larger than 5x5 inches, there should be a 2-inch overlap. Do not stretch or cut product.

 

Precautions and Observations:

  • Sterility is guaranteed unless package is damaged or opened prior to use.
  • One time use only. Do not reuse. If reused, performance of the product may deteriorate and cross contamination may occur.
  • Should you observe irritation (reddening, inflammation), maceration (whitening of skin), hyper-granulation (excess tissue formation) or sensitivity (allergic reaction), consult a healthcare professional.
  • In case of signs of clinical infection, consult a healthcare professional for adequate infection treatment.
  • Do not use oxidizing agents such as hypochlorite solutions or hydrogen peroxide with this product.
  • Can be used under compression wraps/bandages.
  • May NOT be cut to size.
  • This product is not made with natural rubber latex.

 

Storage:
This product should be stored in dry conditions at room temperature, below 95°F (35°C). Protect from freezing.

Sterile; do not use if inner packaging is damaged or opened prior to use. Do not re-sterilize.

  1. Apply adherent side of dressing over wound considering the overlap recommendations to protect surrounding skin. Secondary dressing or additional fixation is not necessary.
  2. Remove gloves by pulling them inside out; discard in leak proof plastic bag. Wash hands thoroughly after removing gloves. 
  3. All dressings should be monitored frequently. Remove dressing when clinically indicated, such as leakage or increased pain, or after a maximum of 7 days.

Directions for Removal:

  1. Wash hands thoroughly and put on clean disposable gloves such as Cardinal Health™ Exam Gloves.
  2. Carefully remove the Silicone Bordered Foam dressing by gently lifting the edges of the border off of the skin.
  3. Dispose of used dressing in container for medical waste or double-bag in a leak proof plastic bag. Remove gloves by pulling them inside out; discard in leak proof plastic bag. Wash hands thoroughly after removing gloves.
