Instructions for Use

Instructions for Use:

Do Not Attempt To Adjust Or Use Your Commode Without Reading All Instructions Carefully. Failure To Follow Instructions May Result In Injury.

Please follow these instructions carefully whether commode is used bedside or over the toilet. Commode's height is adjustable for use in an elevated position. Back of commode is removable for use over the toilet.

To Assemble:

1. To adjust the length of the legs, press the push button on one leg and slide the base up or down to the desired height. Push buttons are engaged when they fully protrude through the holes in the bracket and an audible click is heard. Repeat this for the remaining 3 legs, ensuring that all four legs are adjusted so that the frame sits level.

2. Attach commode seat and lid to the back bar. The clamps should snap onto the back bar. Lift the toilet seat and lid up and down to ensure they are properly attached.

3. Place the commode next to the bed or wherever is most convenient.

4. Place the pail onto the pail holder in the frame, then lower the seat and lid.

Note: Unless otherwise recommended by your healthcare professional, the height of the seat should be even with the user’s bended knee.

To Use as Bedside Commode:

1. Commode seat must be in down position before use.

2. Back up to the commode until the backs of your legs are touching it.

3. Using the armrests for support, slowly lower yourself onto the toilet seat, bending at the hips, elbows, and knees as needed.

4. To get up from the seat, push on the armrests or seat as much as comfortably possible. Make sure you have your balance before releasing your grasp from the armrests.

Note: Before each use, add a small amount of water to pail, which will facilitate cleaning after commode has been used.

To Use Over the Toilet:

1. Lift lid and seat of commode and remove pail. Replace pail with splash guard.

2. Lift lid and seat of toilet, exposing toilet bowl. Position frame of commode over toilet, making sure splash guard in within toilet bowl. Lower commode seat.

3. Ensure that commode frame is level and stable before sitting.

4. To get up from the seat, push on the armrests or seat as much as comfortably possible. Make sure you have your balance before releasing your grasp from the armrests.

General Care:

To ensure that your commode will have a long service life, inspect it regularly and follow these general maintenance tips:

Wearing protective gloves such as Cardinal Health™ Exam Gloves, empty contents of pail into toilet.

Rinse the pail and empty the rinse water into toilet. Clean the pail thoroughly with regular household cleaner. Do not use a toilet bowl cleaner when cleaning the pail, which may damage the plastic. Rinse the pail again. Empty the rinse water into toilet, then flush. Allow the pail to air dry before replacing it in bedside commode. Lower the seat and lid. It is recommended that the commode pail be cleaned after each use.

Wipe all surfaces of the bedside commode with a cloth saturated with regular household cleaner. Do not use an abrasive cleaner that will scratch the finish. Confirm that the armrests are dry before using. NEVER use ammonia-based cleaning solutions or soap on armrests, which may cause them to loosen or crack. Rinse by wiping the surfaces with a damp cloth and allow to air dry. It is recommended that the frame, seat, and lid be cleaned weekly or more often when soiled.

Periodically check tips for damage, cracks, or worn tread. If these issues develop, discontinue use until tips have been replaced.
