Jason Drenning is Director of Cardinal Health Specialty Services.

Role responsibilities

Dr. Drenning is responsible for driving operational excellence for Specialty Services including leading process optimization, ensuring interdepartmental efficiencies and integrating business strategies.

Professional experience

Dr. Drenning is a former small business entrepreneur and has 12 years of experience in clinical, regulatory, scientific and operational leadership in both academia and business.  He has led the launch of several divisions in the United States and Europe, including a scientific communications group within the medical device industry, in which he successfully authored a Department of Defense grant worth $2.5 million. He also launched regulatory, quality and clinical teams for a device manufacturer in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Additionally, Dr. Drenning led the growth of the Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) consulting operation within Cardinal Health Specialty Solutions.

Therapeutic experience

Dr. Drenning has published numerous peer reviewed journal articles and abstracts focused on cardiovascular, oncology, rheumatology and metabolic disease. He has had first author work accepted in the American Journal of Physiology-Cell Physiology and in the journal, Nitric Oxide .


Dr. Drenning received a doctorate in applied physiology from the University of Florida. He received a master’s degree in clinical physiology and a bachelor’s degree in physiology from George Washington University. He is certified in finance and accounting from the Southern Methodist University, and completed the Executive Leadership Training Program at Vanderbilt University.
