Taking infusion management further

Managing multiple infusion pumps on the ward can be demanding. Accuracy and efficiency have to be maintained throughout the process to ensure optimum patient medication safety. Bedside tracking of drug and infusion logs for each patient in the ward is time consuming. To simplify your workflow, we offer a centralised fluid management system that allows for quick access to the information from numerous beds.

1. Pump Data Management

SIM provides you with fast access to all pumps, automatically gathering information with regular updates every 5 seconds, including:
  • Drug names, dose rates, dilution, pressure, infusion rates and boluses.
  • All events and alarms on occlusions, air in-line, near end of infusion and end of infusion and incorrect loading.
  • Drug prescribing data from the local approved source (e.g. BNF in UK)
  • Online pump user manuals for quick reference.
Note – SIM is not intended to replace bedside pump surveillance by clinical staff. Regular pump verification is still required.

2. Fluid Management

SIM features an input and output fluid management that:
  • Automatically gathers infusion data from the pumps.
  • Includes an option to view infusion pressure in a graphical trend for Alaris® CC syringe pumps.
  • Automatically calculates a patient's fluid balance by including the infusion volumes captured continuously from infusion pumps and any fluid in-put or out-put that has been manually entered into the system.
  • Displays fluid information in easy-to-read hourly and daily onscreen tables and charts.

3. Patient Profiles

SIM provides a suite of valuable tools that allow you to:
  • Create individual patient records featuring information on admission, diagnosis, procedures and other clinical and administrative data.
  • View ICD-10 (international classification of diseases) codes using the solution's 'Codefinder' feature, helping you determine patients' medical conditions.
