Supplier Diversity
"Fostering diversity at Cardinal Health — whether it is among our employees, our customers or our suppliers — is one of our highest priorities. Our strategy addresses diversity from five business fronts: Awareness, Upward Mobility, Work/Family, Customers and Suppliers and Community. We believe we must be affirmative in our approach - first by taking an objective look at how we are supporting diversity and then by making sure that on every scale, we are being proactive.
Supporting diversity is a sound business decision that I believe will allow us to maintain and improve the pipeline of innovative thinking that has become the foundation of our culture. Not only is this essential to good business, it is the right thing to do." - Robert D. Walter, founder and Chairman of the Board
It is the policy of Cardinal Health Corporation to provide a fair and equitable opportunity for qualified small businesses, including those owned by ethnic minorities and women, to be considered as supply partners for the corporation and its subsidiaries. This policy is extended to sheltered workshops, historically black colleges and universities, minority institutions and businesses owned by American veterans.
At Cardinal Health, we embrace diversity as a way of business and have committed to it in both the
Workplace and Supplier Development. In this spirit, the Supplier Diversity Program is designed to develop and foster strategic supplier relationships with Minority/Women-Owned, Veteran-Owned and Small Business Enterprises. Realizing that diversity is a strength, the Supplier Diversity Program proactively seeks suppliers that will add value and who align themselves by the same standards as Cardinal Health. We also encourage our prime contractors to use diverse suppliers to further reinforce our commitment.
