American Heart Walk for the past 10 years. As a wrap-around event in 2006, employees were asked "How Big is Our Heart?" Standing together in McGaw Park, IL, about 250 employees answered the question! Our employees also raised almost $16,000 through our company sponsorship, on-site fundraisers and by leveraging our

Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Lake County, Illinois

For the past six years, a team of Cardinal Health employees have volunteered in the
Lunch-Time Mentoring Program. In addition, one of our employees provides leadership as a Board member. Our employees have also supported the annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraising event for the past three years. Through our

C.O.O.L. Transitional Housing Program

In 2008, Cardinal Health provided $11,000 to support the
C.O.O.L. Transitional Housing Program that addresses the
needs of homeless families in Lake County, Illinois. This two-
phase program provides both immediate assistance and the
training that ensures transition into long-term self-sufficiency.

Kids Hope United

In 2008, Cardinal Health approved a $10,000 contribution to
Kids Hope United (KHU) to support its Waukegan (Illinois) School
and Family Counseling Program that enables students to stay in
school by resolving family-related education issues. Annually,
an employee volunteer team collects holiday gifts for children at the
KHU facility in Lake Villa, Illinois and the legal department sponsors
a holiday luncheon for the Foster Grandparents Program. Teams
of employees also volunteer at the Lake Villa facility and the
daycare center during the annual United Way Day of Caring.

Omni Youth Services

An $11,000 contribution from Cardinal Health allows OMNI Youth
Services to expand its recently established program in North Chicago
and Waukegan, Illinois during 2008. OMNI's services help
troubled children, teens and families get through crisis and regain
control of their lives. A local Cardinal Health employee serves as
treasurer on OMNI's board of directors and receives an annual
leadership grant for OMNI from the Cardinal Health Foundation

UIC College of Nursing, Rockford Regional Program

Two nursing students were awarded a $2,500 Cardinal Health
scholarship for the 2008 spring semester at the Rockford, Illinois
campus of the University of Illinois/Chicago's College of Nursing.
The Rockford Regional Program offers MS degree programs for
specialty advanced practice education as well as the Doctorate
of Nursing Practice.

American Cancer Society (ACS) Great West Division

Since 2000, Cardinal Health has participated in fundraising events for the local chapter of ACS. Through the years, employees have raised approximately $35,000 for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and Relay for Life. In 2007, Climb for a Cure was added to our list of ways we are in involved with ACS. Our employees also take advantage of the ACS Active for Life website to track progress in HealthySteps, a walk-at-work program for their health. Junior Achievement

For over 10 years, Cardinal Health has been an annual sponsor of the JA’s school based programs. Each semester, employee volunteers teach the JA curriculum which educates and inspires children to value free enterprise, business and economics. According to one volunteer, “It’s FUN and rewarding! To see the students faces when they’ve figure out or discovered something new—that’s priceless. I don’t believe I am ‘teacher material’, but the 45 minutes spent in the classroom is a great experience. I’ve participated for 5 or 6 years and will continue to do so.” Employees also support Junior Achievement by participating in their annual fundraiser,
Chile Bowl.

Roadrunner Food Bank

Roadrunner Food Bank of New Mexico is New Mexico’s largest non-profit organization dedicated to ending hunger in New Mexico. In 2006, Roadrunner Food Bank distributed nearly 14 million pounds of food through a statewide network of over 700 partner agencies and six regional food banks. In 2007, Cardinal Health was the presenting sponsor of
Senior Food Boxing Olympics. In this event, teams race to see how quickly they can assemble a month’s food supply for senior citizens in New Mexico. Employee teams enjoy going out to the food bank for teambuilding activities.

United Way of Central New Mexico

United Way is a national network of more than 1,300 locally governed organizations that work to create lasting positive changes in communities and people’s lives. Building on more than a century of service as the nation’s preeminent community-based fundraiser, United Way engages the community to identify the underlying causes of the most significant local issues, develops strategies and pulls together financial and human resources to address them, and measures the results. Cardinal Health supports the local affiliate through annual campaign that generates over $170,000, through employee pledges and matching funds, for central New Mexico. Adventures for Wish Kids - A Halloween Adventure

Cardinal Health began its relationship with Adventures for Wish Kids shortly after its inception in 1995 and our support has been designated toward A Halloween Adventure at COSI. This special evening brings together children and their families at COSI (Center for Science and Industry) to trick-or-treat, experience games, arts and crafts and just have fun being a kid!

American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Campaign

Cardinal Health is serving as the lead Sponsor of the 2008 Go Red for Women Luncheon. This $75,000 commitment over two years assists the Columbus chapter of the American Heart Association with its mission to raise awareness and provide public and professional education to women about cardiovascular disease. Cardinal Health’s chief human resources officer, Carole Watkins, is serving as the 2007-2008
Go Red for Women Campaign Chair in Columbus. Carole believes strongly that women should be educated about heart disease and stroke, and should “know their numbers like they know their dress size.”

American Red Cross

Cardinal Health is continuing its partnership and support of the American Red Cross' Humanitarian of the Year Luncheon, an annual event recognizing an individual for his or her commitment to the Columbus community. Cardinal Health's Year of Humanity, a program designed to educate employees about the importance of emergency preparedness, is a 14-month initiative and the first in Central Ohio.

Center for Child and Family Advocacy

In 2003, Cardinal Health made a commitment of $250,000 over five years to the Center for Child and Family Advocacy in support of the Nurse-Family Partnership. The partnership helps provide young mothers with the resources they need to raise healthy babies. This is the only center in Ohio to integrate child abuse assessment and domestic violence counseling to treat the entire family.

The Childhood League Center - School Nurse Program
Since 2001, Cardinal Health has supported The Childhood League Center, a licensed and accredited preschool and early intervention program serving children ages birth to six who have or are at risk of having a developmental delay. In March 2007, a three-year commitment of $45,000 per year was approved to The Childhood League Center to fund a full-time school nurse. The registered nurse provides a critical service to the Center by delivering essential medical intervention to children and their families on a daily basis. Combined with this multi-year contribution, Cardinal Health has provided over $300,000 to help children with special needs in Central Ohio have greater access to healthcare services.

Children's Hunger Alliance

Cardinal Health has been a corporate supporter of the Children's Hunger Alliance through sponsorship of its after school programs for 1,600 low income children in Central Ohio. Each year, the Hunger Alliance educates more than 650 children on the importance of health and fitness through physical activity, healthy food choices and nutrition education. This February, Cardinal Health will serve as the Lead Sponsor of the 2008 Menu of Hope Luncheon.

Columbus Museum of Art

For the second consecutive year, Cardinal Health has contributed $40,000 to the Columbus Museum of Art's traveling educational program, Museum on the Move. This community outreach program displays art in Columbus neighborhoods, festivals and libraries resulting in 25,000 local residents having the opportunity to interact with art free of charge. Museum on the Move helps form connections between the museum and people of all backgrounds in the Columbus community.

Columbus Zoo and Aquarium – Amazing Adaptations: A Zoomobile Outreach Program

For seven years, Cardinal Health has provided funding to the Columbus Zoo for exhibit and educational opportunities. In March of 2007, a $100,000 contribution was approved and will allow nearly 12,000 Columbus school children who are unable to take the traditional field trip to the Zoo an opportunity to engage with zoo animals and learn about their adaptations in the wild, through the Zoo's Amazing Adaptation program.

Communities In Schools

Since 2001, Cardinal Health has supported Communities in Schools, a leading community-based organization helping kids succeed in school and prepare for life. Cardinal Health's funding supports a full-time Health Resource Coordinator. The Health Resource Coordinator's primary job is to connect students and their families with services they need: health insurance, a food bank, medical care, or housing assistance. The program has resulted in rising attendance and higher proficiency rates in Columbus Public Schools along with parental involvement increasing.

COSI (Center of Science and Industry)

Since 2002, Cardinal Health has been the Presenting Sponsor for COSI's Little Kidspace. Little Kidspace is an area devoted to children ages six and younger providing them with the opportunity to pretend, solve problems, and participate in hands-on experiments. Cardinal Health has provided nearly $300,000 to help young children learn to interact with one another and to develop cognitive skills.

Komen Columbus Race for the Cure

For six years, Cardinal Health has provided sponsorship dollars totaling more than $100,000 and encourages employee participation at the annual event. The company also pays for Dublin employees’ registration fees. This year, 201 Dublin-based employees helped set a Columbus race record – 37,400 participants and $2 million raised!
