Members of Community Medical Centers Prospective Infection Control Program

  • Back (l to r) Suzanne Du Bois, Marilyn D'Alena, Marilyn Mitchell.
  • Front (l to r) Dr. Paul Atmajian, Dr. Robert Libke, Beverly Kuykendall.

The primary goal of the program is to change current infection control practices from targeted and retrospective review of hospital-acquired infections to a program that provides for concurrent point-of-service surveillance of infection practices that reduce and prevent infections. Other goals are to use data-mining technology to provide real-time data to mobilize resources to appropriate areas for immediate surveillance and intervention, provide point-of-service education and provide for the highest level of safety as it relates to infection control. Additionally, we expect to see reduction in length of stay, less use of antibiotics and reduction in costs.
