How we help

Cardinal Health Patient Safety Grant Program

Holy Cross Hospital of Silver Spring, Inc. intends to implement crew resource management principles (also known as team training) in the perioperative division (with subsequent rollout to the interventional radiology suites and the cardiac catheterization laboratory). This program was selected to promote higher functioning teams in patient care environments that are challenged by communication and teamwork skills.

Our objective is to foster a culture that emphasizes respect, teamwork, open and honest communication, cooperation and collaboration.

Team training will involve human factors skills training for targeted staff as follows: effective teamwork and communication; team briefings and debriefings; cross-checking and verifying; identifying red flags; assertiveness and leadership; decision making; and maintaining situational awareness.
