Wellmont Health System (WHS) is committed to moving forward on the Journey to the “Safest Hospital in America” and is proud to announce we have been granted $35,000 from Cardinal Health to help fund this endeavor. We greatly appreciate their support and recognition of our efforts to create the roadmap to the Safest Hospital. The WHS Patient Safety Plan first identified those key elements of performance that are critical to a safe outcome for the patient. We have specially trained teams working to develop and implement ideal processes, based on best practice to promote patient safety. The initial focus has been on developing error-free templates for five core processes, and our goal is to develop error-free templates for all critical processes. We believe hospitals are process-rich environments, and building a strong culture of process improvement around safety issues will bridge the gap between 0072esearch and real world practice.
