Sometimes a feeding tube may fall out or become dislodged. If the tube moves out of the stomach or out of the intestine, complications can occur.
If you have a naso or orally placed feeding tube, check the position of the markings on your feeding tube. Make certain it is the same length from your nose or mouth each day. These tubes can be secured using a tube bridle to prevent accidental dislodgment.
Call your healthcare provider if your tube moves by two inches either way. If your tube falls out, go to the nearest emergency room to have your tube replaced.
