The 2017 Cardinal Health Channel Management Forum brought together an exclusive group of stakeholders from distribution, trade relations and market access for education, networking and dialogue on navigating today’s complex healthcare landscape.
Primary topics of discussion included serialization, big data, value-based care and the potential impact of the latest regulatory news from Washington D.C. on the healthcare industry. Roundtable sessions featured lively conversation and best practice sharing, with sessions focusing on direct-to-physician sampling, specialty pharmacy investigational drug programs, state licensing and patient-centric adherence programs. Cardinal Health 3PL provided updates on recent growth, including A + Packaging, our new Samples Management System, and the Sonexus™ Access & Patient Support upgrade to the ConnectSource™ Portal. Respondents to the post-meeting survey told us that the combination of “relevant insights from qualified people” and peer-to-peer networking opportunities made this an event that they will highly recommend to their peers next year.
Keynote speaker Perry Fri’s address was a highlight of the Forum. As the head of Healthcare Distribution Alliance (HDA), Fri leads the trade association’s lobbying efforts on topics including drug abuse and diversion, drug pricing and DSCSA. Fri spoke about DSCSA implementation milestones and gaps in industry preparedness toward the requirement of 2023 individual unit traceability. Key concerns addressed included contract manufacturer readiness, lack of FDA guidance, internal constraints (investment, approval, resources) and operational issues.
