Cardinal Health 3PL Services awarded ISO 9001:2015 certification
December 2017
Recently, Cardinal Health 3PL Services successfully passed an ISO 9001:2015 stage two audit at our facilities in LaVergne, TN and Reno, NV and received ISO 9001:2015 certification for both locations. This certification assures our clients that our facilities meet high expectations for quality, consistency and compliance. The accomplished auditors who performed the inspection praised Cardinal Health 3PL Services’ quality management system and the collaboration and teamwork shown by our team.
The characteristics of this new industry standard are highly resonant with the values that guide our business every day:
- Risk-based thinking: A hallmark of the new ISO standards is its attention to risk management. ISO views risk management as a tool to look for opportunities; to leverage the good things that can happen and spark innovation. Cardinal Health 3PL created a new risk management SOP. Beyond merely addressing risk, we have taken a step further by creating process maps dedicated to mitigating risk.
- Organizational knowledge: This new ISO standard demands more engagement from senior management and identifies quality management systems as a core business responsibility, for which both QA and leadership are accountable. These updates aim to synchronize business processes and business strategy. “We have always considered quality and accuracy a core metric of success, from the highest levels of our organization on down. This certification reflects our commitment to consistently meeting customer needs and driving continuous improvements in our processes and services,” said Joel Wayment, VP of 3PL Services.
- Process maps: Beyond assuring quality, ISO 9001 certification acts as a tool to streamline processes and make companies more efficient at what they do. As a result of our efforts to obtain this certification, Cardinal Health 3PL has identified 30 new processes, created accompanying process maps, and audited each process for accuracy and efficiency.
As of Q3 2017, 1,800 businesses in the U.S. have still not completed their conversion to the new standard. The deadline for conversion is September 23, 2018.
Cardinal Health 3PL has been preparing for ISO 9001:2015 certification as part of our ongoing plans for increasing quality and customer service standards. This endorsement reflects the Cardinal Health commitment to helping our clients optimize their channel strategies.
