Non-Commercial Specialty Pharmacy
Lower compliance risk while providing free drugs to patients in need
For patients managing complex diseases, significant financial barriers may prevent them from accessing or continuing to receive the life-saving medications they need. To address this concern, many pharma companies offer free drug programs to help patients access prescribed therapies while coverage or payment issues get resolved. The problem? Implementing these programs in a non-compliant way may lead to increased risk.
Sonexus™ Access and Patient Support (non-commercial) specialty pharmacy services make it possible to efficiently dispense free prescription medication, based on your eligibility criteria, to patients who are uninsured, under-insured or at risk of experiencing delay in therapy due to managed care roadblocks. Because we can administer your prescription assistance program (PAP) in a non-commercial setting, we can provide an additional level of protection against real and perceived kickback and inducement concerns. Our (non-commercial) specialty pharmacy program can support your free drug program in the following ways:
- We design and manage clinical trial transition programs to help ensure patients don’t experience an interruption in treatment as they move from trial medication to commercial product.
- We implement expanded access and compassionate use programs, which dispense investigational drugs (outside of the clinical trial space and before the commercial launch of the drug) to patients with life-threatening diseases who have no other treatment options.
- We intake, process and respond to voucher requests, and manage all related record keeping.
- We prepare commercial-use product to be dispensed via your patient assistance program, helping to create efficiencies in inventory management.
- When patients face unforeseen delays in verifying insurance coverage, we can coordinate quick start programs for eligible patients, dispensing prescription medications for those who will experience a delay of more than 5 business days.
- We can also implement bridge programs, which provide patients with free access to prescription medications after they lose insurance coverage due to a job change or other event.
